These days, there are two big news in the United States. One is the hurricane, and the other one is U.S. presidential election. For me, a foreigner, it's more like a big party. It's a part of interesting experence in my study abroad life. Like all things, nothing can be perfect in the beginning. After I read this chapter, I learned how this electoral system became complete.
Summary:
This week, I read chapter 4 for this book. This chapter's title is "Mom, Did You Vote?". In 1917, women wanted to vote. They thought American soldiers are fighting for democracy in Europe, and they also should fight for it at home. However, like many men, The president Woodrow Wilson thought that most other issues are more important. Well, some women marched in front of the White House with big banner. They wanted to vote. Finally, in 1920, American women went to the polls.

In chapter three, the theme is the influenza. I think the influenza is more terrible than war. In the past, the most famous influenza is the plague. It killed 75 millions of people, and it's more than the people who died in World War Two. One third of people died in this disaster in the middle age of Europe. I think the influenza is more horrible than war, because people can stop war at anytime and people can't stop the influenza.

Summary:
This week I continue to read this book. In this chapter, it talks about another kind of war after World War One. This war is influenza. In 1918, the influenza almost killed 20 million people. That was more than the total of deaths during the four years of the Great War. In Wasnington D.C., there isn't enough room in hospital. A new word was being used. It was normalcy. That is what people wanted. They wanted to go back to the good old days before the war, but time won't march backward.

After I read this chapter, I think belligerent states didn't get lesson from World War One. They  wanted to get as much as possible benefit they can. They didn't really want to peace. The government and people still believed war can bring anything they want. I think that is why Mr. Woodrow Wilson couldn't pass his plan. Also, I think this is one reason for why World War Two happened.
summary:
This week I read the second chapter of this book. This chapter's title is Fourteen Points. Fourteen Points is plan for peace. After World War One, the president of the United States is Woodrow Wilson. He wanted America to lead the world to a just peace, and he wanted to be the peacemaker. The European people called him the savior of the world. He made this plan called Fourteen Points. However, others countries didn't agree his plan, so he didn't made it.

I like to read history, especially history about war. Maybe because I am a boy. The new book starts with ending of World War One, finish up with ending of World War Two. I think this is a length of the most interesting history, because I can see political battle, military battle and how the world changed in this period of time. In the end of charpter one, it says people think the world was going to be a better place. Is it real? Let's keep reading.
summary:
This week I started to read a book called " A History of Us," it talks about American history from 1918 to 1945. I read the first chapter o fthis book, and it called "War's End." In this chapter, it says the World War One was end on November 11, 1918. The Central Powers which includes Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Turkish Ottoman Empire losed. The winner are Allies, such as France and America. When news comes, people were cheering, shouting, hugging, and kissing, because they thought the world was going to be a better place.

In this semester, I read a book called You'll Like It Here by Ruth White and it talks about a group of children want to find alian in their summer vacation. I would not recommend this book for some reasons. First, I think this book rhythm is really slow. I read about two or three chapters and it still doesn't talk about alien. It just talks about how do theu plan for their summer vacation. Second, the book's content is different with what I want. I thought this book talks about how do those children find alians and they go to alians' city. However, after seven chapters, those children are still guessing where they can find alians and what do they look like. Finally, there are too many characters and conversations in the book. The new characters comes out and half of words in this book is their conversations. I don't like it.

He always think a lot. In chapter two, the boy thinks why his mother doesn't call him for a long time.

Reaction:
In this part of article, I saw 2 new persons. One is Mr. Bleep. He also likes alien and he told Meggie and David something about aliens. However, he had a stroke. The other one is Sheriff Pubois. He tries to ask Mr. Bleep about alien, but Mr. Bleep can’t speak, so he goes to talk with Meggie. They postponed the trip, because they hear something about alien. I think alien will comes soon and this book will be more and more interesting.

Summary:
I read this book from page 9 to page 28, and I think this book is more and more interesting. Meggie and David go shopping with their mother for travel. They met their friend which called Mr. Bleep and Mr. Bleep told them that aliens try to take over the earth, but they don’t believe. Also, Mr. Bleep told what does alien looks like. It is tall and skinny with big and the other one is just like you and me.

Reaction paragraph:
I read the first chapter of this book, and I think this book is just OK. When I read the content abstract of this book, I thought this book is talk about aliens. I saw Meggie has alien neighbors called Blues ( I think it's a kind of alien, such as ET). There is a place called Fashion City. However, I did see anything about alien in chapter one. It just talks about Meggie and her families. I hope I can see something about Blues in next chapter.
Summary paragraph:
I read "You'll Like It Here" by Ruth White in this week. I learned there is a kid called Meggie and his families. Meggie doesn't know anything about his father and grandmother, because they both died when she was very young. Meggie has mother. She thinks her mother is the best in the world because she is sweet, smart, pretty and strong like a rock. Meggie's grandfather called Gramps. He took care of Meggie since she was very young. She also has a brother called David. Meggie and Daivd are in same school. They lived in North Carolina.
